New Bulletin AnnouncementsMCC Thrift Informational Gathering (for Churches in Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle and vicinity) Did you know that nearly one-third of MCC's financial support for its relief, development and peace programs comes from MCC thrift shops? Join MCC and your neighbors for desserts and discussion on February 20 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Grantham Church (421 Grantham Rd., Mechanicsburg, PA; follow signs for room A1). For our centennial year in 2020, we've curated a collection of 100 stories that explore the breadth of MCC's work over time. Donor Engagement Intern: The donor engagement intern, with direction from other donor relations staff, will make meaningful connections with MCC's generous donors during MCC's centennial year, an important marker in MCC's history. The donor engagement intern will conduct research and write content that will be very helpful in engaging supporters with MCC, in order to build and deepen their relationships and involvement. This work will be an important contribution to a key initiative of MCC U.S.'s centennial year (2020): the "New Hope in the Name of Christ" centennial fund-raising campaign. Other tasks will be assigned as needed. This is a 12-week assignment beginning June 1, 2020. Orientation & Re-entry Conferences Assistant Intern: The Orientation Assistant Intern will work for 12 weeks during the summer, assisting with orientation and re-entry conferences and related Human Resources tasks. MCC is a people-sending organization that provides opportunities for people to live and serve in the name of Christ. During summer months, Human Resources (HR) and Global Service Learning (GSL) departments lead conferences to orient and welcome back workers. Most, but not all, of the conferences are on MCC's campus in Akron, PA. This is a 12-week assignment beginning June 1, 2020. Open positions Southcentral PA Program Coordinator (Salaried): The Program Coordinator for South Central PA is responsible for Mennonite Central Committee East Coast (MCC EC) programming and representing MCC in the area of Lancaster County, Reading, Harrisburg and the Southcentral PA area. This is done in close collaboration with the diverse Anabaptist churches and conferences in the area, a local reference committee, and partners. This position also will provide peace and justice education and application as part of the mission of MCC. Packing Coordinator and Material Resource Assistant (Hourly): The individual in this role, based at the Ephrata Material Resources Center (MRC), functions as the packing coordinator and a material resource assistant. The purpose of the center is to process material resources for MCC, involve volunteers in the ministry and vision of MCC, provide educational opportunities for MRC visitors and generate a portion of the MRC budget needs. This individual also functions as a significant contact person for the culturally conservative churches supporting MCC. This position reports to the Material Resources Center Manger. U.S. Accountant (Hourly): This half-time position is part of MCC's Financial Services department and is responsible to the Controller. Ongoing Bulletin AnnouncementsRestoring Hope & Dignity: MLK, Jr. Service Day Join Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), in collaboration with Kingdom Builders Network (KBN), on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2020 (January 20) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at The City School (Poplar Campus) for a morning of celebration and service as we remember those in prison whom are often forgotten and discarded from communities. We will hear from a panel of community leaders and formerly incarcerated individuals as they share their stories discussing the impact of mass incarceration. MCC High School Essay and Video Contest Calling all high school students! MCC's annual essay contest is still open for 2020, and we have an exciting change to announce. In addition to essays, we are now accepting short (2-3 minute) videos as well. Prizes of $750 will be awarded for the top essay and the top video. Students are invited to examine one of these three topics: climate change, gun violence or immigration. The deadline for entering is January 24, 2020 and winners will be announced in late March. Participants will worship, delve deeply into the pressing issues of the day, and lift their voices by speaking truth to power on Capitol Hill. The 2020 theme is ""Imagine! God's Earth and People Restored." At this crucial time in history, EAD will lift up the global crisis of environmental injustice, with special attention to the intersection of climate change and economic injustice.
