Good Samaritan Services is refining, growing and expanding our services to meet the growing needs of our community. As a result, Good Sam's Permanent Housing Services has a new name, "Housing Support Services!" There is something about a name that can give one clarity as to who you are and what you do. Good Samaritan Services provides immediate help to people who are experiencing homelessness, and helps those at risk of becoming homeless by restoring their lives to stability. We engage the community to support these efforts.
Good Sam's Housing Support Services (formerly Permanent Housing Services) assists families to secure housing, stabilize their household and strengthen their family and social supports. HSS will continue to provide case management, rental assistance, as well as personal development and financial stability resources in Lancaster and Chester Counties.
We are excited to announce that HSS has expanded to provide services to single adults (newly serving men!) and families with children. We are also collaborating with local churches to provide short-term affordable housing with supportive resources to families who have experienced significant barriers to obtaining housing on their own.
Our newest initiative, with the help of our local community partners, will assist single mothers with children unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic return to the workforce and maintain housing stability.
Homelessness is a complex issue. The process of addressing one's homelessness is just as complex and ever changing. Good Sam is committed to providing services that are responsive and adaptive to the needs of the community. In addition to HSS, Good Sam will continue to offer Emergency Shelter and Residential Housing (including transitional and affordable housing).
The parable of the Good Samaritan will always be our example in recognizing our neighbor's needs, reacting with compassion, and responding with generosity.
"But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds... and took care of him."

The name for our program may have changed, but our mission remains the same.
