These bi-weekly UPDATES are shared so that leaders and congregations are aware of events and information taking place in LMC, agencies, fraternal organizations, congregations, and the broader church. These announcements are for your information and to share with others in your congregation through email, weekly bulletin, monthly newsletter, Sunday morning announcements, church website, or Facebook. Use your discretion and share what your congregation will find helpful.  
 

LMC Office Events & Information

Worship Team from LMC congregations
The CCL planning team would like to draw together a worship team from various LMC congregations. This team is responsible to lead worship for all the adult sessions. We are especially in need of lead singers, someone to play keyboard, percussion, and bass guitar. If you are available the weekend of June 10-12 and can be at Camp Hebron for the weekend, please reach out to Caleb Kaye at caleb@revivefaith.life or contact Marcia at mmylin@lmcchurches.org with questions. We look forward to hearing from you.

River Corner Church invites you to gather with us for a special night of music with Salt & Light. Salt & Light Co. is a touring acoustic group, using guitars, cajón and other acoustic instruments. The songs are inspirational covers worked up in a new grass/folk style. This is a free event, though a love offering will be taken for those who wish to participate. Hosting an IVEP participant

EMM is honored to have been approved to host an IVEP participant this year, beginning August 25. Kezia is from Indonesia and will be serving with both Advancement and Hub450. Beginning August 24, Kezia will need housing through mid-July 2023; preference is for housing to be in Lancaster city. Hosts will receive $350 a month. If you, or someone you know, is interested in hosting Kezia please contact Sherrie Ober at 717-898-2251. 
 

The No Longer Alone Family Support Group, now supported by Landis Communities, will continue to meet on the fourth Sunday of every month. The guest speaker for May will be Charles Hurst, a Graduate of the Mental Health Court and After-Care Program. His presentation on "Sharing His Life and Faith Journey" will be followed by a time of sharing.

The public meeting is scheduled for Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the High Foundation Auditorium of the Calvin G. and Janet C. High Learning and Wellness Center at Landis Communities, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, PA. Please follow all COVID protocols in place at the time of the meeting.

The monthly meetings provide a place for those who have a loved one living with mental illness to learn and share their experiences.  For information or to receive a monthly meeting reminder, call 717-381-3599 or email JAlbright@landis.org.


Friday, June 3, 2022, Landis Adult Day Services will host the 31st Annual Benefit Golf Outing at Foxchase Golf Club in Stevens, PA. All proceeds from the Outing support programming and scholarships for individuals who participate in the adult day services.
Landis Adult Day Services provides care for aging adults who have experienced life and health-changing circumstances and need a safe, stimulating place to go during the day. Nurses, activity coordinators, and other professionals are there to provide exceptional, dignified care.  The Golf Outing is a scramble format with shotgun starts at 7:30 am and 1:00 pm. Food and drinks will be provided on the course as well as lunch or dinner after the round of golf. Participants are also eligible to receive prizes. Golfers must register before May 6, 2022.

FriendsLife Care 
has collaborated to offer flexible and comprehensive long-term care plans, including expert care coordination and financial benefit, for those aged 40-85, living in Lancaster & Lebanon Counties. This in-person seminar will take place Tuesday, May 10, 11:00 am, in the High Foundation Auditorium at Landis Homes, located at 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz PA.
 
Topics will include:
  • What options are available to allow you to thrive in your home as long as possible?
  • What is the difference between long-term care insurance and membership in a Friends Life Care plan?
  • How do Medicare, Medicaid, and your current healthcare insurance relate to your long-term care needs?

Alternative (1W) Service From Two Viewpoints (Flyer below.) - Mennonite Life hosts Robert Wyble, author of the memoir Life Together, and Henry Youndt, author of the fictional Ezra's War, on Thursday, May 19, at 7 pm on the Millstream campus, to discuss their books, both portraying the influences of alternative service. Admission is complimentary. Books available for purchase. Authors will sign books after discussion. More info at bit.ly/1WService.
 

Encapsulation Workshop at Mennonite Life. Sara Berkovec, collections curator, and Julia Wiker, archivist/librarian, teach a hands-on workshop on Saturday, June 4, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm where participants learn to make clear protective envelopes for treasured documents. Participants bring two documents, share their significance with the group, & create protective sleeves to preserve them. The workshop includes all necessary materials. The cost is $30. Preregister by Friday, May 20 at bit.ly/EncapDocs.
