What's happening at the Hub?
March
A new ESL class started meeting for advanced beginner students! Thanks to volunteer time and donated materials, we now have two classes which have been meeting regularly since March and February.
We provide childcare for both our ESL classes and Women's Global Village programs, and are so blessed by the joy these children bring to our space. See pictured above some creative musical fun!
Art for the Heart continues to meet on the fourth Friday of each month, and is open to any and all refugees and immigrants interested in creativity for healing.
April
Neighbors Cafe has acquired the long-awaited espresso machine! We are still waiting on a few more things to fall into place before we can open the cafe officially but we are grateful as the pieces are coming together one at a time.
Neighbors Cafe hosted the first of many "Cultural Meals" thanks to Bushra from Flavors of Morocco. The food was delicious and we look forward to the next one on May 12th which will feature West African cuisine provided by Isabelle (see below for more details).
This week marked the graduation ceremony for the ladies in Women's Global Village. We enjoyed a celebration of their hard work and beautiful creations, and look forward to continuing the program next fall with a new group of women.
Staff Spotlight: Katy Deets
Katy Deets is a third culture kid who
is passionate about serving among different cultures, reconciliation, and hospitality. Since she grew up moving frequently between different continents and cultures, her heart for migrants and being a welcoming space for others to begin integrating themselves and their families into a new culture is central to her work at Hub450.

Katy is serving at the Hub through the Shalom Project, and has enjoyed operating in a variety of roles including volunteer coordinating, providing childcare for Women's Global Village and English classes, and launching an ESL program.

And if Katy could fill a bathtub with one substance she would choose Reese's pieces because it would be kind of like a ball pit but would be a lot more delicious.
