COMING THIS FALL 2023!
Your bishop team is very excited to offer a Discovery Series specifically for the Valley-Mountain PA- East District congregations this Fall.
We suggest introducing this Fall invitation to your congregations in May and then follow up with intentional promotion and personal shoulder-tapping of individuals and current or aspiring leaders in July. 
Please see the schedule, bulletin promo, brochures, and registrations options below.  

Retired LMC Moderator Bishop L. Keith Weaver will be the facilitator for the six evening Discovery sessions.  
Hosted at Alive Church Ephrata, 6:30-8:30 PM. 
Childcare is available. Note child care need upon registration.  
Through Discovery, participants will learn to:
  • Encounter God in a fresh and intimate way.
  • Confirm your spiritual gifts.
  • Learn more about your personality and how you relate to others.
  • Review life experiences and discover your passion for serving others.
  • Clarify your unique life purpose as a follower of Jesus
  •  Develop a growth plan that helps you move toward the future God intends for you
  • Engage in a mentoring relationship that will support your growth over the next year. 
Cost is $30, plus a $15 DiSC fee. District education scholarships are available upon request. Contact your bishop.

Session 1, September 7, 2023: What is Discovery? An overview of the Discovery Series
Session 2, September 21, 2023: You are a Gifted Child of God. Identify your primary spiritual gift; write a passion statement.
Session 3, October 5, 2023: What is Your Passion and Emotional IQ? Learn how gifts/passion shape your relationships in the body of Christ; learn about emotional intelligence.
Session 4, October 19, 2023: Discovering Your Uniqueness. Deepen your self-understanding through the DiSC personality profile.
Session 5, November 2, 2023: My Deep Gladness, The World's Deep Hunger. Form a personal purpose statement.
Session 6, November 16, 2023: Putting it All Together. Review and use the work we have done.
Session 7, November 30, 2023: Developing a Growth Plan. Write SMART goals
Session 8, December 7, 2023: Transforming Friendships. Learn about mentoring
Graduation Celebration: December 10, 2023: Family and friends invited to come and celebrate with students completing The Discovery Series

Hope Community Church

Your bishop team is excited to officially announce that Hope Community Church, located in New Jerusalem (near Fleetwood, Berks County), has joined LMC.
Hope Community Church is now part of the Valley-Mountain PA-East District. 
Please extend a warm welcome to Kevin and Nan Kanagy.
Kevin serves as lead pastor and Nan serves as youth and worship pastor.  
It has been a joy for your bishop team to walk with Kevin and Nan the past months. 
Several other congregations also within our district proximity continue to be in process in joining LMC.
Your bishop team will keep you apprised as oversight is discerned.
