May 2023 We are firing up the pit for REAL Smoked Pulled Pork!   This event will be held at the Unruh Car Show on Friday May 19th from 4:30pm until sold out. Walk-ups will be at the REAL Life tent along Main St at the car show.  Drive-thru will be along N 3rd St, Denver. $10 Suggested Donation. Just follow the signs when you get into downtown Denver. Meal includes pulled pork on a bun, bag of chips,dessert, applesauce, and a drink. Cash only. This fundraiser benefits REAL Life Community Services. The meat is smoked by Swamp Christian Fellowship Church. Other food items have been donated to us by Pepperidge Farm, Weaver Markets, Willow Creek Grocery Store, and Cocalico Plumbing & Heating.  REAL Life 1st Annual Golf Tournament Wednesday June 7th @ 1 PM at Foxchase Golf Club   Click here to register! We are EXPANDING Young at Heart!  Young at Heart has grown so much that we are now expanding! On the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month it will still be at the Adamstown Area Library! On the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, Young at Heart will be held at Faith United Evangelical Luthern Church, 357 Walnut St, Denver, PA 17517. If you're 60 years or older, come out and join us. Each meeting is 9-11am. Learn More! We are so thankful for the generous donations we receive from all of you to help keep our food pantry running and available to those needing help with food in the community! We are currently in the works of offering something new for our monthly shoppers called the REAL Chef meal box. This is similar to a Hello Fresh package and would consist of a recipe and the necessary ingredients to prepare a complete meal. Our hope is to offer a healthy meal option that is also convenient and hassle free…...who doesn't like that?! Beny is our new Program Coordinator. If you're involved in one of our programs, you'll be sure to see him! Say hi, get to know him, and welcome him to REAL Life! Beny is Romanian and has lived in the United States since 2017. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, his family, working on his car, reading and sports. He likes learning about new cultures and hearing people's stories. His passion is to get to know and help people, especially youth and young adults. One of Benys favorite verses is What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31) It's back! The Adamstown Area Library and Cocalico Cares are providing a fun, FREE spring activity for our community members through April and May with our Spring Thru Cocalico Scavenger Hunt! Visit REAL Life's office, Adamstown Library, or click the QR Code to collect a Game Card.  Then freely visit participating business listed on the game card and search for symbols on a poster in their window.  After finding as many images as you can, bring your flyer to the Adamstown Area Library to claim your goodie bag! You will also be entered into a drawing for a grand prize of $100 Cash! Also, be sure to upload pictures of you and your family on the scavenger hunt to the Cocalico Cares and Adamstown Area Library Facebook pages - you could be selected as a winner of one of many fantastic gift basket prizes! Our Momentum program just got done learning about cultures all around the world. We are in the process of learning about history of different churches, their architecture, alternative uses, and much more. Because of the nice weather, we are planning on more outside activities;  going to the park, playing basketball etc. We plan on trying to reach more youth in our community by spending more time outdoors.
