REAL Life's August Update

August 2023 We will be at National Night Out! The East Cocalico Township Police Department is hosting National Night Out again this year.   The event is scheduled for Tuesday August 1, 2023 and will be held at the Reamstown Park.  There will be free food, games and entertainment.   The event runs from 6pm until 9pm. Instead of doing the Back to School Bash this year, we will be handing out backpacks at National Night Out! Hear from one of our parents about her experience with the backpacks!  "The backpack program is amazing. When Jordan was ready to go to school, we had no idea how we were gonna get his school supplies and backpack. I got an email from REAL Life saying that they had everything kids needed for school. I was so overjoyed and went to see. They had games and prizes when you pick them up! It was a huge help!! I highly recommend it! We have been doing it ever since!!"                   - A happy parent Save the Date The Denver Fair is right around the corner!  Mark your calendars now, to make sure you don't miss Faith & Family Night, Wednesday, Sept 13th, at 6:30pm! REAL Icy Treats will once again be serving Farm Show Milkshakes ALL WEEK! Financial Literacy Course is coming back again this FALL!! We are offering another Financial Literacy Course this upcoming fall! This course is 7 weeks long. There will be incentives for those who complete all 7 weeks! Hear from Monika, who took the course back in 2022.  "After a friend told me about a financial literacy class that was free, I was interested in expanding my knowledge on finance. I'm glad I did, I took a lot of tips and ideas with me on how to handle my money going forward. I transitioned from a two to a one income household, I really needed it at the time. Now I am debt free and saving for my goals and my children's futures." One of the many programs we have at REAL Life Community Services is our REAL Recycling Program. This is specifically for our Power Packs families who receive weekly meals during the school year. They are encouraged to return their Power Packs boxes each week to have their name entered for a raffle prize at the end of the school semester. The more boxes they return for us to recycle, the more times they have their names entered and the more chances they have to win! Prizes typically have a fun, family-friendly theme, such as the prize shown here. This family won the Ice Cream Sundae gift basket, which included ice cream cones and waffle bowls, ice cream toppings, an ice cream scooper, and a gift card to purchase ice cream from Willow Creek Discount Grocery Store.  Power Packs Registration now open— Cocalico School District families that qualify for free and reduced lunches also qualify for Power Packs, a weekly educational program with a healthy recipe, the main ingredients to make that recipe, and a couple of staple food items.Know someone in need of food?
