Dear HMS parents, ,
  
Students and parents celebrated $105,000 in gifts from individuals and businesses over two winter months for a new gym floor at a recent school-wide event!  The 34-year-old gym tiles will be replaced by a new multi-use flooring surface beginning June 6.

Up to $100 million in new funding may be available for tax credits in 2019-2020! Thanks to a recent vote in the PA House, we expect this will result in more opportunities for businesses to use the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Programs to support scholarships at Hinkletown.

According to Reach Alliance and DCED (Department of Community & Economic Development), which administers the program for PA businesses and individuals, a Senate vote could come before June 30 for next year's credits or be delayed and apply to the 2020-2021 PA budget years and beyond for increases to program funding that enables school choice for students and families.

Will the increase be available to you?
Tax credits are available to eligible businesses contributing to a Scholarship Organization.  Re-application for credits begins on May 15 for businesses already in years one or two of a two-year commitment. New applicants for EITC/OSTC tax credits may start the process of applying on July 1. Applications must be submitted electronically using DCED's Single Application for Assistance. See our fact sheet, for a step-by-step guide to apply/re-apply for tax credits.

We are thankful that PA school choice is alive and well! Pending legislation would expand the tax credit program with $100 million of increased funding for 2019-20. You can learn more about action, advocacy and program benefits here.

In addition, an auction item offered at this year's event is a corporate annual membership (learn more details about this item).  If you want to bid in advance, sealed bids for this item will be accepted up to June 14, received by mail to Hinkletown Mennonite School.  Any sealed bids will be opened and considered after write-in bids are received on event day and highest bidder wins the item.
