Registration is recommended; visit allianceus.org/the-invitation. | | LMC Resource Partner Organizations' Events and Information | | March 22 - April 5 EMM is offering this course which is for Christians at any point in their journey with God, guiding each participant into a biblical worldview. It is not strictly a course about the "harvest" but a course which focuses on the "harvesters." It is an opportunity for all God's people to be transformed and aligned with God's heart for the nations. It uses a unique combination of facilitated introductions, reading, videos, group discussions, special activities, and prayer for unreached people. Kairos is one of several mobilization tools produced by Simply Mobilizing International, based in the Philippines but active in over 100 countries around the world. This group provides a place for those who have a loved one living with mental illness to learn and share their experiences. The next one will be held Sunday, January 26, from 3–5 p.m. by Zoom. The speaker will be Will Fisher, Compeer Coordinator, Mental Health America of Lancaster County. He will share on "Introduction to Programs and Services of Mental Health America of Lancaster County and How to Get Involved." This will be followed by a time of sharing. Stories by Candlelight at the 1719 Museum Join us for a cozy, candlelit evening of storytelling at the 1719 Museum on Saturday, January 11, 4:00–9:00 p.m. You'll hear songs and stories passed down for multiple generations among Lancaster County's Indigenous communities and Lancaster County Mennonites. At the Herr House you'll hear stories from the Martyrs Mirror and listen to English translations of hymns from the Ausbund performed by a Mennonite quartet. At the Lancaster Longhouse, award-winning Indigenous musician and artist Barry Lee will share songs and stories rooted in his cultural heritage. Light refreshments are included with admission. Beginning Research at the Mennonite Life Library Ready to learn more about researching your family tree? Mennonite Life partners with the Lancaster County Library to offer an introduction to genealogy and history research on Thursday, January 16, 2:00–3:30 p.m. at the Eastern Lancaster County Library. You'll learn how to use the Mennonite Life Library's online and onsite resources to research local Mennonite history and your own genealogy. This event is complimentary and does not require registration. Winter Workshop: Intro to German Script Learn the basics of reading and interpreting German Script! Archivist and Librarian Julia Wiker will teach attendees the German script alphabet, as well as abbreviations and variations in writing and spelling at a workshop on Friday, February 7, 10:00–11:30 a.m. in the Community Room. The session will also offer practice interpreting 18th- and 19th-century family records from Mennonite Life's collections. Knowledge of German is not required.
