  • Annual Bookworm Frolic returns September 16 & 17, 9 am to 7 pm, and September 18, 9 am to 4 pm, at the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society. Browse popular categories such as history, biography, children, fiction, religious, Christian fiction, and more. Hardback books will be $3.00, and paperback books will be $1.50. On Saturday, the books are half-priced, or fill a box for $12. Make payments with a credit card, cash, or check.

  • Looking for a rewarding community service project? Volunteers & local youth groups are needed to help during the week of the Bookworm Frolic, September 16-18. Contact Michael Bodner at operations@lmhs.org or call 717.393.9745, ext. 106.

  • Maize & Snitz Market Fair at the 1719 Herr House & Museum. Our classic event redefined! New this year is a market fair featuring gifted artisans who specialize in 18th-century trades. Immerse yourself in the cultures of early European and Indigenous people of Lancaster County on Saturday, October 2, from 10 am to 3 pm. $10 for adults, $7 for children, and complimentary for children 6 and under.   • LMHS will host An Evening with David & Grace Shenk on Thursday, October 28, at 7 pm at Landisville Mennonite Church. The couple will present his new memoir, A Gentle Boldness: Sharing the Peace of Jesus in a Multi-Faith World. Phyllis Pellman Good will moderate. Attendees will have an opportunity for Q&A. A live stream will be available online at facebook.com/MennoniteLife. The event is co-sponsored by EMM. Book signing to follow.

  • Family History Heyday, an all-day virtual event, will be held on Saturday, November 6, from 10:30 am to 2:15 pm. Our keynote speaker, Dr. Michael D. Lacopo will present, "The German Immigrant Experience in the 18th Century." Nathan Pease, Director of Library Services at LancasterHistory.org, will describe the features of their new search engine. Kristin Wenger, professional genealogist and educator of Roots & Wings Research, will reveal tips on "Finding Our Female Ancestors: Research Strategies to Discover More about Women in Family History." Cost is $45 per person. Early bird special is $35 if purchased before October 1. Tickets are available at bit.ly/Heyday21.

  • Save the Date! Underground Railroad Learning Tour at Columbia Crossing River Trails Center on Sunday, October 24 at 2 pm. Tickets cost $40 a person. Tickets available soon.
