What's happening at the Hub?
In-Person English Classes Starting in January 2023!
While we are preparing to move ahead with registration beginning in January we still have significant volunteer and financial needs.

We are looking for experienced ESL teachers and childcare volunteers. See here for info about upcoming volunteer needs:
We also have significant financial needs to sustain this program. See here for more information about how you or your church can help:
November at the Hub
Driver's Hope has started! This program is run by a volunteer who teaches driver's ed, providing students with practical knowledge for passing the written portion of their driver's test.
We were very grateful to welcome Troy Landis from Immerse to provide ESL Training for those interested in volunteering with our program. We were also able to have teachers gather for the first time to start planning for the Spring.
Thank you to all who came out for Extra Give! We had a wonderful turnout as our community joined us to hear some of our dedicated volunteers share about their programs and to try some drinks from the Neighbors Cafe!
December at the Hub
Global Women's Village just finished up its 12-week fall class! Congratulations to the ten women who completed the course, and we look forward to beginning again in January.
Two weekends in a row, we hosted a World Cup Lounge as a space for our community to gather around the universal passion for football (or "soccer" depending on how American you are...)
Upcoming at Hub 450:

  • ESL registration will begin in January!
  • Women's Global Village will begin again in January
  • CORE Afterschool and Citizenship Tutoring are still ongoing
  • We are still working out the details for opening the Neighbors Cafe-- keep an eye out for more updates in the next year!
Staff Spotlight: Rebecca Smoker
Becca first stumbled upon Hub 450 earlier this year when she found herself at a Tuesday evening Prayer for the Nations meeting and was captured by the vision for the Hub. Since high school, she has felt called to a ministry of prayer until the day that every nation, people, and language are gathered around the throne of grace (Rev. 7:9). As she learned more about this place, she was excited by the possibility of ministering to those in our own community who are displaced and unreached.

Becca serves at Hub 450 as an administrative assistant and is especially gifted in public relations, marketing, and event planning. She hopes to be serving here long term and is currently raising support in order to do so (see below for more information).

Also, if she could fill a bathtub with any substance, Becca would choose Nutella because even though it wouldn't be fun to bathe in, it would be nice to have a bathtub-sized supply of Nutella.
Thank you for making it to the end of this newsletter! We will leave you with this question... do we remember when our ancestors were immigrants?

"Any immigrant who lives with you must be treated as if they were one of your citizens. You must love them as yourself because you were immigrants in the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God."

Leviticus 19:34 (CEB)
