Are you interested in learning about why the United States incarcerates more people than any other country in the world? Do you want to better understand racial justice in this country? Do you want to examine a Christian approach to criminal justice? If so, then we invite you to participate in Mennonite Central Committee's New Jim Crow project, which offers Anabaptist study groups, churches and Sunday school classes the opportunity to learn about mass incarceration in the United States. Using The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander and a Christian study guide, groups are led through educational materials provided free of charge from MCC. Download this bulletin insert to share about this project with your congregation. |
The MCC East Coast Material Resources Center in Ephrata, PA, needs your help! Our stock of sewing kits is running low, and we need to collect more to fulfill requests from our global partners. In many places where MCC works, sewing skills open the door to additional income that can help a family make ends meet. These kits are often given through MCC-supported programs that teach sewing or tailoring and provide the tools to make and mend clothing or to begin a business. For information on sewing kit contents, please visit mcc.org/kits. |
