Fall Leadership Assembly 
LMC's Fall Leadership Assembly is planned for Thursday, September 21 (instead of September 16) at Mount Joy Mennonite Church, 320 Musser Rd, Mount Joy, Pa 17552. This assembly is being held in conjunction with the Annual International Missions Association (IMA) being hosted this year by EMM. This is a wonderful opportunity for LMC leaders to interact with and learn from our Global Fraternal partners from around the world. Shalom News Announcements 
Guest Team Member(s) for Shalom News Magazine
For each issue of Shalom News, our editorial team invites a guest team member or team members to sit with us (Brinton Rutherford and Joselyn Santiago) for a 1-2 hour brainstorming/planning session to help shape the theme and articles, and maybe write an article or two.

Bridge the Gap is a 14-week mission internship that equips young adults to thrive in a cross-cultural environment. Join an intercultural group of young adults at Immerse International (immerse-us.com) to learn about key local/global issues like sustainability, community development, poverty, entrepreneurship, and more. Multipliers is a group committed to discussing and practicing simple disciple-making principles for daily life, and then sharing those principles with others. It's a place of accountability and encouragement alongside like-minded Christ-followers. Multipliers is open to those with or without previous discipleship training experience. Music in the Orchard 
Summer concerts conclude at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, at the 1719 Herr House & Museum with Smokehouse 4, a local group drawing on New Orleans blues and soul. Tickets are $8, children under 12 are free, no advance registration is required.

300 Years of Mellinger Mennonite Church 
Join us for two half-day field trips looking at the origins of Mellinger Mennontie Church on Saturday, October 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 to 4 p.m. Highlights include a walk to the early Mellinger farm as well as a log barn along Leaman Road. The tour will be led by Dan Wenger and Ivan Leaman. The tour begins at Mellinger Mennonite Church. Registration costs $50 for members, $65 for nonmembers, and is due September 21. Swiss-German 1717 Immigrant Journey to Lancaster 
Come along on a field trip retracing the path of the large 1717 group of early immigrants to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The highlight of the trip is sailing the Christina River aboard the Kalmar Nyckel, a replica of the Swedish boat which brought the first European settlers in 1638 to the Delaware Valley. The annual Bookworm Frolic is rapidly approaching. Come out to 2215 Millstream Road, Lancaster, Pa., between Wednesday, August 16 and Friday, August 18 (9 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Saturday, August 19 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), to purchase your favorite used books and support the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society.

Host Families Needed 
2017-2018 School Year  
Two host families are needed for the 2017-2018 school year for two Nigerian high school students (2 different families needed) studying at LMS. Both students (1 boy and 1 girl) are connected to the Mennonite Church in Nigeria and would prefer to stay with families attending Mennonite churches here in Lancaster. The guardians of the students are able to afford a modest monthly payment to offset some of the costs of hosting. Summer Open House  
The New Danville Campus of Lancaster Mennonite School (PreK-5) will hold a summer open house August 2 from 6-7:30 p.m. The New Danville Campus offers the option of five-day full-day PreK in a small, diverse, caring Christian school environment .See www.lancastermennonite.org/new-danville for more information.

Mennonite Children's Choir of Lancaster  
The Mennonite Children's Choir of Lancaster is open to children from all denominations and is sponsored by Lancaster Mennonite School as a service to the community.

The Mennonite Children's Choir of Lancaster is still accepting registrations for Prelude Music (grades 1-2) and Choristers (grades 3-7). These non-auditioned programs meet on Tuesday evenings September through April. Contact mccl@lancastermennonite.org for registration forms.

Parkinson's Support Group Meeting
The next meeting of the Lancaster County Parkinson's Support Group will be held on August 21. "Resilience with Parkinson's Disease," will be presented by Health Educator Guevien Gray from Johns Hopkins, Baltimore. The presentation will be followed by a time of questions and answers. The public meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 21 at 2 p.m. in the Westview Community Room at Landis Homes, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz. Following the meeting will be a time of refreshments and informal discussion. 2017 Auction Art Preview 
The 2017 Auction Art Preview reception will be held at Landis Homes on August 8 with a wide variety of art on display that will be auctioned on September 9.

Featured artists include Suk Shuglie, Paris Wyatt Llanso, Julia Swartz, Liz Hess, Lee Lovett, Christiane David, Kyong Sill Shin, Velma Magill, Freiman Stoltzfus, Cindy Schlosser, Andy Smith, Steve Wilson and more.

The preview reception on August 8 will be held in Harvest View Gallery at Landis Homes from 6:30 - 8 p.m. The show will continue to be on display until September 6.

Three-day event, September 20-22 
Jim Wallis, president and founder of Washington D.C.- based Sojourners, will join Eastern Mennonite University president Susan Schultz Huxman, and Gonser Gerber development firm partner Doug Mason as featured speakers for the 2017 Everence Development Conference.  
 
The three-day event, Sept. 20-22, is themed Bridge to a Shared Tomorrow and will take place at the Lancaster Penn Square Marriott in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

IVEP Host Family Opportunity
Believer is coming to work for Everence through the IVEP partnership program through MCC for approximately one year beginning in the middle of August (click here for the IVEP host information sheet). Believer will be working at 2160 Lincoln Hwy office. Everence is hoping to find a willing host family who would be close to public transportation, which would allow Believer to take public transportation to the Everence office each morning.

Join MCC East Coast August 19-23, 2017 for a 4-day bike ride in scenic and historic southeastern Pennsylvania to support MCC's relief and development work in hurricane devastated Haiti! Camp Manatawny Conference and Retreat Center (33 Camp Road, Douglasville, Pa.) will provide meals and lodging. Mexico/U.S. Borderlands Learning Tour 
Join MCC East Coast October 10-15, 2017 for an educational learning tour designed to bring awareness about the increasing migrant deaths, militarization, environment degradation, effects on habitat and effects on sister communities by the border wall along the Mexico/U.S. Borderlands.
