The ideal candidate will be a committed follower of Jesus with a desire to serve His Church and advance His mission in the world. This person will be able to work as part of the LMC staff team. They will have strong organizational skills, being able to relate to and communicate with people from different cultures. The ideal candidate will be strong in following through with tasks and responding promptly to emails. A minimum of a high school education is required. The approximate start date is February 1, 2023.

Contact Sherrie Ober at 717-898-2251 ext. 269 for details. | | LMC Churches Events & Information | | An opportunity to help the Kenya Mennonite Church  Many of you have heard of Meserete Kristos Church's college and the good work it does in Ethiopia. And many have heard of the Tanzanian Mennonite Church's Mennonite Theological College of East Africa (MTCEA) and its long history of service in theological education. Now I would like to make you aware of the college of the Kenya Mennonite Church - Mennonite, Anabaptist Theological College (MATCO). I was privileged to be able to teach in this school in August and was impressed with what they are accomplishing. They do however need some help. I would highlight these two needs: - Books for their theological library. If you are a retiring pastor or church leader they could use your Bible, church history, ministry, and theology books. Classes are taught in English and so English language books are welcome.
- Scholarships for students. MATCO works on a very limited budget and most students cannot pay the full cost of tuition. It only takes $452 (U.S. dollars) to put a student through a year of the three-year program.
If individuals or congregations would like to help, this would be greatly appreciated. All funds will be given through EMM.

We have many fun activities planned for 2023 which include a Children's Prayer Garden. I want to personally invite LMC congregations to a special event I am hosting through my creative business, ALCHEMY. It would be amazing to have the many cultures of LMC engage in this volunteer opportunity. Please read the details below.

Location: The Academic Center at the Immerse International Campus 321 Manor Avenue, Millersville, PA 17551 FREE PARKING! (space is limited thus registration is required)
Dates: Feb. 18th, and March 18th from 2pm to 5pm
NOTE: due to space limitations registration will be required. PLEASE CALL SANDRA at 717-951-2030 to register for a time to volunteer. People may volunteer as many times as they can (all 3 months and all 3 hours) or just a set month and 1 set hour. (FEB 18 or MARCH 18 from 2 pm to 3 pm, 3 pm to 4 pm, or 4 pm to 5 pm)
Who should attend? For families (kids ages 4 and older) who are interested in volunteering their crafty hands to make paper flowers - I will provide all materials for this craft. (All kids must be supervised by an adult).
ARTS & CRAFTS: As seen on the attached flier kids can make an easy button, paper flower, or a more advanced origami 8-point flower. NOTE: All artwork/crafts featured on the flier are my personal artwork and this is the style in which I will be teaching the day of the event. All materials will be provided.
REGISTRATION: YES, registration is required due to space and art materials limitations. (average number of attendees per hour is limited to 20). PLEASE CALL SANDRA at 717-951-2030 to register.
SAFETY: I have clearances to work with children. Only families that are registered for the event will be allowed to attend. This is not a public event. LMC members must supervise all children they accompany at all times.

Each year, Anabaptist-related churches around the world are encouraged to worship around a common theme on a Sunday close to 21 January, usually the fourth Sunday in January. On that date in 1525, the first Anabaptist baptism took place in Zurich, Switzerland. Landis Communities offers a Speakers Resource Listing to serve church and community groups. Team members are available at no cost to present in worship services, Sunday School classes and other settings. Resourcing can happen in person or via Zoom. Subjects include Living Options for those who are Aging, Providing Care at Home, Memory Loss, Doing Church in an Aging Society, Financial Planning for Retirement, Environmental Care in Retirement Communities, Church History and Aging, and Spiritual Life and Aging. No Longer Alone Family Support Group
The No Longer Alone Family Support Group, now supported by Landis Communities, will continue to meet the fourth Sunday of the month. The program for January will be the Hope Always Video Series:
"The Problem of Suicide" and "A Biblical Worldview of Suicide" by Dr. Matthew Sleeth, MD; Author, teacher and former ER physician. The video will be followed by discussion and a time of sharing. The public meeting is scheduled for Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. by Zoom, due to the chance of inclement weather. Meetings will return to Landis Communities in April 2023. The monthly meetings provide a place for those who have a loved one living with mental illness to learn and share their experiences.

1719 Museum offers Tour Guide Training  Did you know that Mennonite immigrants were some of the first European settlers of Lancaster County? Learn more about their story and that of the indigenous people of this area and share that story with others. Consider becoming a volunteer tour guide at the 1719 Museum, the site of Herr House and Lancaster Longhouse. A five-week-long tour guide training will be offered on Saturday mornings, beginning on February 11, 2023. Volunteer guides are asked to commit to at least one tour date per month from April through October; scheduling is flexible. Fooling with the Amish with Author Dirk Eitzen  ● Local author Dirk Eitzen explores the phenomena of reality TV and the Amish. ● Amish Mafia is a Discovery Channel reality show released in 2012. Mennonite Life is pleased to host author Dirk Eitzen on Monday, February 13, 6:30 – 8:30 pm, at the Mennonite Life Visitors Center, 2215 Millstream Rd, Lancaster, for a discussion of his book on reality TV and the Amish. Dirk Eitzen, Ph.D., is a Professor of Film and Media at Franklin & Marshall College and the author of Fooling with the Amish: Amish Mafia, Entertaining Fakery, and the Evolution of Reality TV. Eitzen considers the case of Amish Mafia, a Discovery Channel reality show released in 2012, to examine why the public is so taken with reality shows, the potential dangers of this genre, and how the ex-Amish participants became involved in the show. Admission is complimentary. You may purchase Eitzen's book, Fooling with the Amish at the event. The author will sign books after the presentation.
