Good afternoon, Phil,
I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and are now ready to celebrate the New Year! As we look back at this past year at REAL Life Community Services, there are so many things to be amazed by and thankful for; we added three new staffers to the team, we completed the largest capital project since the Declaration House, adding two new studio apartments to the Royer House, and we are finishing up the 800sq ft addition to Warehouse916, providing a garage for the Ford Transit van (we still have on order from Ford) along with some storage space! All of that, plus helping dozens of families stay in their home, hundreds of families with food, providing over 36,000 meals, and so much more..!! Besides some of the personal family challenges, we can honestly say that with God's grace we had an incredible year!!
BUT WAIT, the year is not yet over! As many of you know, back in October we started a year-end fundraising campaign to raise $300,000!! Even back then it seemed like an insurmountable goal! But, here we are in the last week of the year, we have raised $231,000 + $22,000 pledged = $253,000!! Since the beginning of this campaign on October 1st, I joked that it would be a Miracle if we hit our goal! And if we do, I'll do a backflip! Well, I may soon be eating my words... So, as to not be a liar, I came up with this challenge; if we reach our $300,000 Goal before midnight 12/31/2023, I will go on FaceBook Live at Noon on New Years' Day and tell of this amazing miracle and do a backflip into a "Polar Plunge" (lake of freezing cold water)!!
You may be asking, "Rod, is this just a gimmick to raise money?!" My answer is, "Why, yes it is!!" But, it's all in fun and for a great cause that helps so many local families in our community! And many of you wouldn't mind seeing the plunge either!
