These monthly meetings provide a place for those who have a loved one living with mental illness to learn and share their experiences. For information call 717-381-3599 or email JAlbright@landis.org. | | | Former Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society EVENTS Open Saturdays at the Mennonite Life Library The Mennonite Life Library will be open on three Saturdays this winter: January 20, February 17, and March 16, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Mennonite Life Museum and museum store will be open as well. All are welcome to visit the library. Use of library research materials and archives is complimentary for Mennonite Life members, and $7 per day for non-members. 1719 Museum Tour Guide Training Learn about Lancaster County's earliest history and share your knowledge with others. The 1719 Museum seeks community members to guide tours of the Herr House and Lancaster Longhouse in the spring, summer, and fall of 2024. Volunteers are asked to commit to attending all four training sessions and at least one tour date per month. The 1719 Museum tells the stories of Lancaster County's Indigenous peoples and earliest European immigrants. This is a four-session training course held on Saturday mornings: January 27, February 3, February 24, and March 2, 2024. All sessions will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., except for the February 3 session, which will be extended in length (exact timing TBA). Sessions will educate volunteers on topics relevant to leading tours at the 1719 Museum, including Lancaster County's Indigenous history, European Mennonite migration to the area, and techniques for guiding large groups through the museum.
