Welsh Mountain Home Celebrates 100 Years of Compassionate Care
On Tuesday, June 25th, Welsh Mountain Home, a personal care home dedicated to enriching the quality of life for adults from diverse backgrounds and income levels, celebrated its 100th anniversary. Over 130 community members, residents, families, and supporters gathered for a memorable Garden Party, commemorating a century of dedicated service and compassionate care. The event, held in a beautifully decorated garden setting on the grounds of Welsh Mountain Home, featured delicious oeuvres and a series of engaging presentations. Executive Director Mona Frey expressed her overwhelming joy and appreciation for the community's unwavering support. It was truly a celebration of the entire community who have made it possible to continue our mission of providing compassionate care, with Christ-like love, to all who have called this place home.

Highlights of the celebration included:
 Unveiling of a 100-Year Anniversary Display: Showcasing the rich history and evolution of Welsh Mountain Home.
 Presentations by Distinguished Guests: Guest speakers provided insight into our current reality and shared vision for the future.
 Certificate Presentation: State Senator Scott Martin's staff member, Angela Eichelberger presented Executive Director Mona Frey with a certificate marking the 100 years of Welsh Mountain Home.

Attendees also had the opportunity to take a tour that showcased some of the newly renovated spaces within the home. In addition to the festivities, donations were gathered to directly benefit resident care, ensuring that Welsh Mountain Home continues to provide high-quality, affordable care for its residents. Welsh Mountain Home has been a cornerstone of the Welsh Mountain Community providing a nurturing and supportive environment for older adults. The 100-year anniversary celebration not only honored the past but also looked forward to a future filled with continued dedication to excellence in care.

Annual Storytelling Night

In a celebration of stories that transcend boundaries, Mennonite Life hosts its Annual Storytelling Night on Monday, August 5, at 7 p.m. at Mellinger Mennonite Church. Throughout the evening, local storytellers Josef Berthold and Becky Hess will relate a series of alternating short-form anecdotes from their lives.

Josef Berthold loves pastoring West End Mennonite Fellowship in Lancaster City, where he and his wife, Brenda, have lived for 30 years and raised their three boys. He is passionate about welcoming all people into a healing community where they can grow to be like Jesus. In his free time, Josef likes to ride his motorcycle and entertain his puppy, Charley.

Becky Hess is the human resources director at Eastern Mennonite Missions, where she discerns with her community by listening, following, and cooperating with the One who creates and invites us to "Come. Know me. Belong. Find help and life in all you do." Becky and her husband, Jack, have three adult children, and now Becky looks at life through the eyes of her one-year-old, five-month-old, and three-month-old grandbabies.

Annual Storytelling Night is a complimentary event. Mennonite Life welcomes donations to support its mission, which includes storytelling and history conservation efforts. The following week, a recording of the event will be available on Mennonite Life's YouTube channel.

Mennonite Life's vision is diverse communities connecting across boundaries by knowing and valuing their own and each other's stories of life, faith, cultures, and histories.
