Beyond Shoeboxes in South Sudan
More than 600,000 children in South Sudan have received a tangible expression of God's love from Samaritan's Purse through an Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift. Yet that just skims the surface of our involvement with this young nation.
Samaritan's Purse has stood by the people of South Sudan through decades of civil war by providing food, water, and medical care to hundreds of thousands. Following the country's independence from Sudan in July 2011, our relief work has continued despite ongoing clashes between rival factions. Though a tenuous cease-fire holds, the country remains on the brink of catastrophe.
Women and children are especially at risk. Elizabeth is just one woman displaced by the years of conflict. She spent months hiding in the swamps after her village was overrun by combatants and even gave birth to her second child there. Read how Samaritan's Purse came to her aid and share the heartrending story with your friends.
Now is the time to stand with South Sudan. Please pray for and support our efforts to bring relief in Jesus' Name to the people of this struggling nation.
