Ecumenical week of prayer

With a year soon past since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the spread of COVID-19 a global pandemic, Mennonite World Conference joins the World Evangelical Alliance, Salvation Army, Lutheran World Federation, World Vision and World Council of Churches (WCC) in a week of prayer from 22-27 March.

Former Courier editor dies

Mennonite World Conference celebrates the life of Milka Rindzinski who served Courier/Correo/Courrier magazine 1992–2008 and attended every Assembly from Curitiba in 1972 to Harrisburg in 2015.

Born in Uruguay in 1932 to an immigrant father, Milka Rindzinski died 5 March 2021.

MWC and Tanzania church mourn loss of bishop

Mennonite World Conference mourns with member church Kanisa la Mennonite Tanzania on the death of Bishop Steven Mang'ana Watson on 4 March 2021 of pneumonia. He served the global family as Africa representative on the MWC Executive Committee since 2015.

Rely on God for everything

Brethren In Christ Church (BIC) Nepal was pioneered by missionaries from the BIC church in Bihar, India. In the beginning, most early believers were excommunicated by their society. However, in spite of this situation, Nepali Christians continued to spread the gospel and the number of believers in Christ increased.

How to join the family

"Hello! How can I join you?" This question often comes through Mennonite World Conference's social media accounts.

But what does it mean to be a member of MWC? MWC exists to be a global community of faith in the Anabaptist tradition, to facilitate relationships between Anabaptist-related churches worldwide, and to relate to other Christian world communions and organizations.

However, there is a formal process for becoming a member of this global communion.

Young AnaBaptists (YABs) refers to all members of MWC member churches from teens to young adults up to age 35.

Though we have different faces, cultures, languages and ways of practicing our Anabaptist faith, all young people in the global Anabaptist family form part of YABs. Together we have much to share!

Prayers of gratitude and intercessions

The Mennonite churches in Indonesia are looking forward to hosting Anabaptist brothers and sisters from around the world. Pray for the fundraising team to find solutions to close the budget gap in the fundraising efforts for Global Youth Summit (GYS) and Assembly 17.

Pray also for acceleration of the COVID-19 vaccination process to help the country be free of the virus before the end of 2021. Pray for the Indonesian government to make wise choices about prioritization and procurement.

"Thank God for taking us this far in the midst of the epidemic and for the good rain. May the church to remain faithful to God, our only hope. Pray for God's provision for those who have lost jobs and businesses due to COVID-19, and for the financial effect on the church. Pray that spreading of COVID-19 should come to an end. Pray that God will stir up hearts to revival in the midst of hardships. May people respond to and share God's love."

God,

when we pray for climate justice, we pray to strengthen our long-standing commitment to justice, peace and the integrity of your creation.

Climate change threatens human rights as universal and indivisible rights for all people: rights to food, water; health and adequate housing; political and civil rights.

We need to listen to the voices of victims. Please help us understand the problems of climate change as social problems so that we respect human dignity and the common good.

We pray for justice - between the global North and South - beyond generations – beyond genders – with marginalized groups – with the non-human parts of your creation.

God, make us an instrument of your justice so that we are no longer part of the problem, but of the solution.
