Dear Friends,
In a community suffering from high crime, food insecurity, and lack of education and jobs, The Food Project in Baltimore, Maryland has a solution. The Food Project hires and mentors at-risk youth ages 5-24 to produce and distribute meals each week and run a pop-up market to distribute food. The Food Project is housed in a former elementary school along with an incubator across the street to house youth entrepreneurial ventures. In addition to Blessings of Hope, they partner with organizations that offer resources and social services to the community such as housing resources, identification documents, health and wellness, and food.
Since its inception in 2017, Chef Ta, Tanelle Williams, and Tyshae Jennings are just a few of the success stories that have come from The Food Project. Chef Ta is launching Milan's Kitchen after having just graduated from culinary school. Tanelle Williams is running Ginger's Fresh Juice, cold pressed juices made from whole, fresh fruits and vegetables. Finally, Tyshae Jennings is launching Humble and Grind Daycare this spring.
