Tabernacle Kit Workshop

Bring your family or small group to an interactive Tabernacle Kit Workshop on Saturday, April 20. Pastor Timothy Darling will walk you through the spiritual significance of the Tabernacle as your group constructs a model of the structure from wood and cloth. We'll read scripture together and will allow time for Q&As and conversation. The 90-minute workshop will be followed by a complimentary viewing of the Biblical Tabernacle Experience. Price for this workshop is $20 per kit (paid at registration) plus a $10 workshop fee for each participant, to be paid on the day of the event. Event details and registration at mennonitelife.org/events.

Join us for two upcoming author talks at Mennonite Life.

May 9, 6:30 p.m. Author Talk: The Mennonite and Brethren Music of Peggy's War

Karl Rhodes will share about his meticulously researched novel inspired by the true story of his great-great-grandmother, Peggy Rhodes. Peggy is a Mennonite living in the Confederate Shenandoah Valley during the Civil War. In the midst of her busy and often difficult life, she conceals Mennonite and Brethren refugees escaping the war. This event will also highlight hymns sung by Mennonite and Brethren refugees like the ones in the book.

July 25, 6:30 p.m. Author Talk: Amish Gardens of Lancaster County

Join us for an exploration of Amish kitchen gardens with author Beth Oberholtzer. Oberholtzer's book explores Amish family gardens as portraits of the women who design, tend, and harvest them. Included are 32 family recipes straight from the garden: hot-pepper jam, fried green tomatoes, sweet dill pickles, sauerkraut for a crowd, corn fritters, and creamed celery.

These events are complimentary and take place in the Mennonite Life Community Room. See more details at mennonitelife.org/events.

1719 Museum Seasonal Hours

The 1719 Museum is open for the season! Stop in Friday & Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. or book your tour in advance at mennonitelife.org.

Summer Internship Opportunity

Mennonite Life offers a summer internship in two areas: the archives and the museum. Working alongside staff members, interns will gain insight into the daily operation of a museum and archive. While the intern will work primarily in one of the two areas, they will be introduced to both throughout their time at Mennonite Life. Interns will also receive career counselling and coaching. Find application information at mennonitelife.org/about/employment/.
