July Stats & Current Needs

JULY HAPPENINGS:

Thank you to everyone who supported the Independence From Hunger Campaign that benefited benefiting CrossNet Ministries Food Programs & Northeastern Lancaster County Food Bank in Terre Hill! Over $22,000 in financial contributions and food product was raised to help fight hunger in our community. A special thank you to Grocery Outlet of New Holland for your partnership & support!

Thank you to our friends at Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community and their summer camp for donating food items to the CrossNet Food Programs! Our Food and Nutrition Manager was able to speak to the campers about CrossNet and how their donations help many individuals and families in the ELANCO Community. We are better together!

This past month, renovations on an apartment in one of CrossNet's Pathways to Housing units was completed! Thank you to many businesses, individuals, and churches who helped make this possible. A special thank you to Weaverland for sponsoring this unit moving forward. We are excited for a new family to call this apartment home as they begin the Pathways to Housing Program!

OFFER HELP AND HOPE IN ELANCO!

VOLUNTEER WITH CROSS JR:

The Cross Jr. Program exists for 4th and 5th grade students in ELANCO and matches each student with an adult Mentor who will work with them to build self-confidence, gain life skills, have fun, and learn about the love of God!

We currently have 18 volunteers signed up and we are hoping to double that number for the new school year. The Cross Jr. Program runs from October to May. Volunteers choose one of the ELANCO Elementary Schools to serve at for about 2 hours once a week.

Check out testimony of a couple who volunteers with Cross Jr. and why they enjoy it in this video here.

AN ENCOURAGING STORY

We have a participant who has worked with CrossNet for several years. His living situation was very complex and he bounced around a lot seeking permanent housing. While we have worked with the participant for some time, housing options didn't work out for a variety of reasons. Recently, CrossNet Staff heard about a room for rent via a local landlord. We are thankful to share this participant is now housed and has a new roommate!

At his last visit to the CrossNet Social Services office, with his new roommate, it was clear this participants demeanor had changed. He was more open, friendly, and clearly had taken well to his new roommate. The Social Service Staff were able to learn more about this participant and his needs. Including, learning he has had the same pair of glasses for many years, that he can barely see out of.

We are thankful for how God orchestrated this whole situation. This participant is housed and really likes the place and the roommate. The roommate likes the situation as well. While it would have been ideal to have this participant housed sooner, it was a reminder that God's timing is perfect and he not only blessed this man with housing that he likes, but a roommate he really likes too!

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure stories like this one take place! Your on-going support makes it possible!

(CrossNet Staff is in the process of getting him new glasses ☺️)
