Seminar on Serving
Refugees and Immigrants
Lancaster Mennonite Conference Center, 2160 Lincoln Hwy E., Lancaster, PA 17602
Monday, November 14
6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Church World Services and Lancaster Mennonite Conference will collaborate on a two-hour immigration seminar on November 14, 2016 beginning at 6:30 pm. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the Lancaster Mennonite Conference center at 2160 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA.

Come explore global and local realities that immigrants and refugees face. Christine Baer, Congregational Resource Developer at Church World Services, Lancaster, will facilitate the evening. Learn about the conflicts that are causing people to flee their homeland as well as stories of local cultural diversity and perseverance. Participants will leave with new knowledge about their refugee neighbors as well as information about how they can advocate for those who have just stepped off of an airplane and serve them as they move towards freedom from persecution.

A discussion panel will feature individuals from local Lancaster Mennonite Conference congregations who have actively engaged our new neighbors. Light refreshments will be available. Anyone with questions should contact Joselyn Santiago at 717-293-5246.

Church World Services, Lancaster welcomes around 400 people each year to central Pennsylvania. Staff, volunteers, and local churches help the new arrivals adjust and become successful members of their local neighborhoods. Through hard work and a long-term commitment of support, people who once had no hope are discovering the means of transforming their lives.
Church World Services works hand-in-hand with caring churches, organizations and individuals to provide help and homes to refugees. This help provides the resources needed to build a community in the U.S. for uprooted people so that they can fashion a better future.
