Spring... and an end to the blizzard of emails! | |
"Hello and welcome!" We at Good Samaritan Services have been saying these words so much this past year. Our joining forces with the Bridge of Hope Lancaster and Chester Counties has increased our connections with so many people!
At the same time, we might want to say "Hello and please accept our apologies!" In the last few months we have been hard at work behind the scenes, merging mailing lists and introducing our volunteers and supporters to our newly enlarged mission. The difficulty is that some folks have been feeling snowed under by a veritable blizzard of emails from us. – If you happen to be a supporter of both Bridge of Hope @Good Samaritan Services, and, say, a supporter of one of our shelters, you may have felt like the nor'easters of March couldn't hold a candle to the swirl of communication from the many facets of GSS. So please—accept our apologies! We are sorry and we hear you!
We are changing our ways!
We are putting all of our pressing news on social media (please be sure to "Like" our Good Samaritan Services Facebook page, and follow us on Instagram to get all the news!) Along with this, we are introducing the one and only monthly emailed newsletter from Good Samaritan Services. This newsletter will be our way to keep you current with what is going on across our four locations. – Occasionally we might send additional emails to keep you aware of events, but we will try to keep these to a minimum. -- We hope you find our newsletter engaging, and that it gives you some ideas for how you and your friends might connect with our mission. And as we make this change, we also want to give you the opportunity to choose what aspects of our mission you most want to hear about! To this end, please do us a favor and respond to the survey we have set up to assess what issues you care about, so we can tailor our mailing list to suit your interests.
As a thank you for taking the time to complete this survey, we will send 3 random people a gift card to your local bakery. | | Friends, this newly enlarged mission is a wonderful adventure for all of us. How we communicate what we are doing, and how you hear it are fascinating side-quests. We hope that all communication from our offices to you can be a two-sided affair. Please call or write with your thoughts and feelings about our work, and our effort to share it with you.
With very best wishes, | | Connect with us on Social Media so you do not miss any updates: | | Important information about your Legacy Gift
Across the years, friends of Bridge of Hope Lancaster & Chester Counties, and friends of Good Samaritan Shelter have graciously identified these organizations through a variety of financial instruments including charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts and other bequests.
Now that our two organizations are one, our boards have merged, and our name has changed; but we hope that you recognize that our mission and services remain the same!
In order to assure that our work continues, and to assure that your support for our mission reaches long into the future, we respectfully request that you advise your attorney or account manager to stipulate that your legacy gift be directed to Good Samaritan Services. Thank you! | | BELOW IS YOUR APRIL MONTHLY NEWSLETTER | | GSS Microloan Program
Our Microloan Program gives GSS clients the money they need to purchase a car, secure permanent housing, or meet another goal. We are thankful for our unique partnership with Ephrata National Bank (ENB). Many of these loans are issued through ENB which means the loan recipient repairs their credit while they repay the loan. | | "The Microloan program helped me to improve my credit and to be responsible in managing my money. I learned the value of saving money in order to pay back debts in the appropriate time, and Good Sam helped me achieve that. Thank you Good Sam for supporting me and teaching me accountability!" - Paula | | Since we started this program, we have awarded 29 loans totaling $32,000. To date, 60% of the loans have been repaid.
The GSS Microloan Program is a true example of our creative and unique approach to helping our clients escape poverty.

When Good Samaritan Services began operations as a new organization, we knew that we wanted to express this newness with a fresh look. One of the most important places that needed to be made new was our Coatesville office.
The Coatesville office looked tired; it was time for new paint and new floors. This office space is crucial in helping the needs of the women and children we serve in Chester County, and we want the appearance to express our sense of welcome for these families, and to carry a feeling of a bright and better future. | | We could not have accomplished this office make-over without the wonderful services of Sherwin-Williams and Martin's Flooring Company. These two phenomenal businesses sent some of their best workers and volunteers and put their skills to work making the completion of this dream within reach. Words hardly can express how grateful we are.We also had GSS staff, board members, and some of the men in our Phoenixville program come out to lend a hand! | | | Thank you to everyone who helped with this marvelous office transformation!
