- Herr Homecoming Celebration— Saturday, September 7, beginning at 10am celebrate the 300th anniversary of the historic Herr House. Purchase tickets at hansherr.org or by phone at (717) 464-4438. Enjoy a day of games, giveaways, groundbreaking genealogical discoveries, exclusive tours, and special exhibits. A catered meal will be provided. Adults: $40, children ages 7-12: $20, children under 7: $10.
- Annual Storytelling Night—Hear life stories from Keith Weaver and Linda Gehman Peachy at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 9, at Stumptown Mennonite Church. Weaver is a bishop and moderator of LMC. Peachey is a freelance writer who has worked for Mennonite Central Committee on women's concerns and as co-director of Peace and Justice Ministries.
- Pa. German Dialect Classes—Open for registration now! Beginner classes run Thursdays, 7 to 9 p.m., from September 10 through November 12. Intermediate classes are on Tuesdays, 7 to 9 p.m., September 12 through November 14. Classes cost $115 for nonmembers, $100 for members. Register at lmhs.org or call (717) 393-9745. These classes are held at the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society—2215 Millstream Rd., Lancaster, Pa.
- Blacksmithing Class—Take up a hammer and learn how to blacksmith under the tutelage of the Herr House blacksmiths on Saturday, September 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is due August 31, the class costs $75. Register at hansherr.org or call (717) 464-4438.
- Underground Railroad Tour—Follow the trail of freedom seekers across Lancaster County, farm-to-farm to Christiana, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 14. Tickets cost $80 for members, $95 for nonmembers. Register by August 23 at lmhs.org or by calling (717) 917-2701.
