Literally! | "This is the nicest thing I have ever owned!"
These are the words of a single mom in our Permanent Housing Program who is thrilled to receive a beautiful and dependable car, donated by a generous Good Sam supporter through our Wheels of Hope program.
This Mom now has a reliable vehicle which will relieve a fairly large financial burden as her previous vehicle was costing her hundreds of dollars every couple of months just to keep it on the road. Congratulations on your new set of wheel and enjoy the sunroof! | | Our Impact -- July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020 | | In one month, almost $8,000 was provided in Rental Assistance and Microloans. | | In the last month, we provided shelter and housing to over 143 men, women, and children. | | A Unanimous Vote Provides Housing! | This property will soon be called home for a family who was at-risk of becoming homeless. The house is owned by Rossmere Mennonite Church, and we are excited to announce our partnership with them which will allow for us to provide housing for a family in our Permanent Housing Services program!
Pastor Todd Gusler says, "Our congregation purchased an adjoining property two years ago. We weren't sure what we would do with the property but wanted to use it for ministry uses and not just as an investment. We decided to reach out to Good Samaritan. A church task force met with GSS staff who gave us an overview of their programs and answered our questions. As they presented to us, it was apparent God was present in the work of Good Samaritan and we immediately felt this was an organization we could partner with. | | Our congregation then unanimously approved this partnership! We look forward to our future with Good Samaritan and hope that the family who lives on our property will be blessed."
Our Permanent Housing Services program offers professional case management services, rental support and mentoring groups to individuals and families across Lancaster & Chester County. We serve people that are doubled-up, at risk of homelessness, in the eviction process, or homeless.
Thank you Rossmere Mennonite Church for opening your doors to this grateful family! Because of these amazing partnerships, Good Sam is able to provide homes to individuals and families in our Permanent Housing Program. | | Back To School & Looking Cool |
It's that time of year again, when the long, hot summer days are winding down and families are gearing up for the upcoming school year. Last week, members of Zion Lutheran Church in East Petersburg recognized school supplies expenses can add up quickly and be extremely expensive for students and their families. Members of their church assembled and donated book bags filled with school supplies for the families in our Good Sam programs. They spent time praying a blessing over the bags, the children, and the families to receive them. Thank you Zion Lutheran Church for your generosity! The kids are super excited to begin the new school year with their brand new school supplies! | $25 a day - Change a life! | Did you know that at Good Sam, $25 can change a life?
